ABOUT PRODUKTIONBABEL

ProduktionBabel is dedicated to artists : working in the field of production and tour management with choreographers and dancers, with singers and musicians.

Why Babel ? Because working with different artists from different roots, cultures, countries, different fields also. The main aim of ProduktionBabel is to accompany the artists in their work, observe, be present, support.

Valérie Lanciaux made ProduktionBabel

Valérie Lanciaux discovered the contemporary dance world in the 90’s. From 2001, she directed “Lignes de Corps” festival, international festival for contemporary dance and performance (the latest edition of the festival was in 2007). She took part in some research workshops with different choreographers, such as Isabelle Schad (G), Ludger Lamers (G), Lisa Nelson (US), Régine Chopinot (F)...
At the same time, from 2003, getting more and more interested and involved in the dance world she started filming and making videos; especially documentaries about the work of choreographers, from interviews and rehearsal images (with Myriam Gourfink (F), Elena Cordoba (S), Daria Faïn (US), DD Dorvillier (US), Jan Ritsema (N), Monica Valenciano (S), Isabelle Schad (G)…). She also followed the work of artists such as Vera Mantero (P), Xavier Le Roy (F)...
In 2009 she decided to work with the dance world in a different way, as a producer and tour manager.  Until 2014, she worked with Norwegian artist of Iranian roots Hooman Sharifi.
She accompanies the projects of dancer and choreographer Nathalie Collantes and is developping a work in the music world (world music and experimental), working with Spanish and Turkish artists. She has been working with the Austria based group The Loose Collective and The Décisifs company-David Subal and Clara Cornil for a few months.
She also works for shorter-term with American and Berlin based artists. Her aim is, above all, to accompany the artists, support their projects, be an adviser, a “look” and make them know thanks to the international network she developed during the last years.

Very early Valérie Lanciaux is fond of singing and music… she discovered these two arts through musicals particularly in which she performed at school. She was trained as an actress in Valenciennes (France) and worked on different plays between 1995 and 2008 (Aeschylus, Euripides, Baudelaire, Trakl, Kleist…). She also worked with children and teenagers aged from 5 to 18 for 11 years (on voice, movement and poetry).
She took part in the organization and program of the event called “International Meeting of Children’s Theatre” between 2002 and 2006, working with different theatre and dance groups from the USA, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Germany, Italy...  She has also been assisting video-artist Frédérique Ribis (Paris) for the last five years on a project dedicated to women in the business world particularly.

Since 2008, she has been developing her own projects of theatre/performance and video.  She started with a video project called ‘MadridParisBerlin, a universal song – or I love Kreuzberg’ in which she has been filming in the streets of these three European capitals. She is developping it in other cities like Istanbul. She created ‘Amordobleamor’, a solo always in construction talking about her own life through different elements such as voice and singing, movement and video. She showed it in Madrid/galeria Menosuno, Berlin/Tanzfabrik, Paris and Portage (Wisconsin, US). She also lead voice and singing workshops with the students of the HÜZ in Berlin (Bachelor of Arts), with the University of Utah and the Portage Centre for the Arts.

Her current video project is happening in different cities with women from all backgrounds and all ages. Through dialogues, they speak about their life and about the city in which they live. The project called 'Les visages de...' had premiere in Madrid in June 2012 at La Casa Encendida in the frame of the festival "In-presentable" with the first version ‘Los rostros de Madrid’. The aim, for the next 3 years, is to bring together the interviews made in the different cities, to mix the cultures, people, faces and languages.
She is filming in Paris and Berlin at the moment and will start the American version next July in Wisconsin and in New York.
